Our story begins with Stacy in Minocqua, Wisconsin and Tim working a security job at night. This is Stacy typing. I asked Tim if he wanted to write out our story, and he immediately started singing the first song that came to his head with the word story in it. I decided that instead of yall having to read song lyrics, I would write the story. So here we go.
I was on a travel assignment in Minocqua, Wisconsin working night shift. My travel assignment was quickly coming to an end and I decided to download a dating app to see if I could find someone and potentially settle down instead of continuing to travel. Tim liked me, so I looked at his profile. I dont remember what the questions was on his profile that got my attention, but I do remember the answer. He wrote: I tackled a donkey. I was bored at work and decided I wanted to hear this story. Tim was working an overnight security shift and decided he was also bored and preceded to describe the story to me very hilariously (you can see our first interaction in the picture above). I thoroughly enjoyed the story, but right after I read the message, our emergency room got a call in about a boating accident that we would need to prepare for. I quicky sent him my number. In my head, this was because I was at work, I didnt have the notifications on my phone for the app, and I didnt want to miss whatever else he had to say. Me giving my phone number so quickly was a red flag to Tim, however, he texted me anyways.
When my work finally slowed down, I saw that he had texted me. I told him I apologize it took me so long and that we had a boating accident we had to prepare for (mind you, I had not told Tim I was in Wisconsin). He immediately freaked out... because as most of you know, Tim is a game warden... and responds to boating accidents. I had to tell him right then that I was not in Tennessee, but was hundreds of miles away on a travel assignment in Wisconsin for the next couple weeks. Another red flag to Tim about me because, well, long distance. However, he kept texting me.
We made plans to talk on the phone not long after. When he called me, I was playing Fortnite and in 4th place about to win. I didnt want to quit my game so I answered the phone while playing. Within the first 30 seconds Tim heard me clicking the controller and asked very gently... what are you doing?. I told him I was playing Fortnite and about to win. And here we go, another red flag to Tim. I am really not a huge gamer girl, but rural Wisconsin can get a little boring sometimes when its cold. Tim and I talked for hours that night, and yes I did turn off Fortnite very quickly. It was so strange to me because he was saying things that I say and think. We agreed on so many things and both had similar goals in life. We even both had family in Oregon.
After we hung up, I texted one of my best friends and said I think I just talked to the man Im going to marry. I never said things like that. Anyways, we talked multiple times a day after that and we started to plan a date for when I was back in Tennessee. Right before I came home, I got news that I had gotten another travel contract in Maine. I knew this was something on my bucket list, and something that I had to do before settling down. In my gut, I knew something was right about Tim, but I knew I had to do this first. Tim was SO supportive. It was shocking to me.
I had a couple weeks in between assignments and we went on the most magical first date to the drive-in. Tim brought me the most beautiful flowers, and made the coolest place to sit in the back of his truck. We couldnt hardly hear the movie, and Tim had no voice, but we laughed so much and had the best time.
Tim asked me to be his girlfriend on July 5th, 2023. I was leaving for Maine just a couple days later. This blows my mind that he patiently pursued me while letting me live out my dreams. He even helped me drive up to Maine. Throughout our relationship this is something that has remained constant with Tim. He is so incredibly supportive and encouraging of my dreams.
The thing that holds us together so tightly, though, is that we both share the same desire to live our lives for Jesus. God has undoubtedly brought us together. He has answered every prayer I have had about a future husband in Tim. I am so incredibly grateful for our story, and we cannot wait to celebrate our love with every one of yall. We love and cherish every one of you dearly.
